Revelare
a sculptural project
from Lauren E. Allen
Revelare is a soft sculpture made of crocheted material sewn into a form that holds onto a plate of glass. Upon the glass is a transferred self portrait that is overlaid with sketches, word correlation and memories of times society told me I was too much.

Radically embarrassing the authentic version of you is so critical for self love and directly impacts your ability to thrive. Moving through the world and being told you are too much too often negatively impacts many and creates a societal driven trauma.
Confronting and understanding this trauma is important in being able to move past it. Viewers looking at this piece are engulfed with a heavy, crocheted shape that holds a piece of glass. On the glass is a transferred photograph of an abstracted self portrait. Behind that self portrait are sketches, word studies and memories of being told I am too much.
